En un pequeño pueblo en medio de la sierra, Esmeralda intenta sobrellevar la muerte de su esposo y el silencio continuo de su hijo en Estados Unidos. Sus amigas tratan de animarla con comida, pero la tristeza no se va hasta que llega La Cuina, una puerquita a la que decide cuidar y entregar todo el amor que aún tiene para dar.

In a small town in the middle of the mountains, Esmeralda tries to cope with the death of her husband and the constant silence of her son in the United States. Her friends try to cheer her up with food, but the sadness does not go away until La Cuina arrives, a little pig she decides to take care of and give all the love she still has to give.
